Most of my presence in the cloud is based around the forum environment. Whatever my interests at the moment be, I belong to a forum pertaining to that. That is the great thing about forums, if you have an interest, you better believe there is a forum about it! It is incredible what you can learn from people who already know a little bit more than you.. Aside from that, I spend a lot of time searching for items I desire on craigslist, and selling items on craigslist. I use the cloud as a platform to find new artists to listen to. The cloud has shaped my interest and taste in music almost exclusively at this point. I do spend some time on facebook, but not much, I have some unexplained discontent for the site.....
But that is me, in the "cloud"!
The cloud has completely changed my tastes in music. I find it ironic that 5 years ago, I wouldn't be caught dead with the type of music I've added to my pallet now. Getting exposed to everything in the cloud has somehow changed me over the years.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, there are forums for virtually everything! There were a few forums that I relied on heavily while planning my wedding that saved my husband and friends from endless hours talking about flowers and photographers...
ReplyDeleteI find that it has changed my taste too, mostly just because there is so much more access to a wide range of music! I think that it has changed the way artists behave, too. If they do something wild, twitter is on fire about it!
ReplyDeleteA good example, for me, is that if I didn't belong to a ford heavy duty truck forum, I could not have found very specific diagrams and parts dealers for my transmission in my dump truck.. I rebuilt my transmission for free thanks to the online help of about 10 experienced mechanics..
ReplyDeleteIt would have cost upward of $2,500 to fix the trans, but I did it with some research and just by being personal and polite in the forum. Long live forums!
